 JUANE

It is one of the main typical dishes of the Peruvian gastronomy in the jungle. People usually eat it during the San Juan festival which is celebrated on June 24  in honor of Juan Bautista. The origin was in Moyobamba city.

The juane is made from rice, eggs and chicken pieces; all this is wrapped in bijao leaf and later it is put to boil.

Types:

1. Chonta Juane: As a replacement for rice, it has toasted corn and chonta (both ground) with a piece of salted fish in the center.

2. Yuca Juane: It has ground yuca instead of rice and is stuffed with fish, especially paiche.

3. Wasp Juane: Ground pork meat is added to the rice and with it the dough is prepared, filling with a fried chicken prey.

4. Nina Juane: Take chicken pieces with beaten egg instead of rice.

5. Sara juane: Instead of rice, bring a mixture of raw ground peanuts, ground corn and chicken broth.

My eating habits

A month ago I was eating healthy food, totally. Nowadays I do not have a strict diet because I´m trying to gain weight. So, as a basic habit in the morning I love eating bread with mozarella cheese. My glass of yogurt is inevitable, too.

At 10 am aproximately, I eat peaches or bananas. I like strawberry in the same way but only in juices.

As a rule at lunch, I need to eat ripe banana. Some days my mom cooks noodles, rice or stews with chicken or meat. My favorite food, for instance, is bisteck!

At 8pm we have dinner the same as for lunch, most of the time. And to end the day, before to sleep, I boil water and prepare a relaxing tea. It can be chamomile or anise. It helps me a lot to sleep better even if I had a exhausting day.
